Leadership Weatherford is a program of the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce. This program offers an educational experience designed to help identify and motivate community leaders, provide educational experience that focuses on regional issues and needs. In addition, challenges participants to apply their talents throughout their community. 

Leadership Weatherford is a nine-month education and development series, packed with top-notch all-encompassing course curriculum. The series features local and regional leaders/speakers, hands-on tours and excursions to community facilities, services and venues. 

This program is structured allowing participants of Leadership Weatherford to access information they may normally never have. The goal is to share valuable information about our community and engage/encourage leadership and involvement while also building business relationships. 

COMMITMENT:
Leadership Weatherford is held the 3rd Friday of every month from September to May beginning with a retreat in late August. Each class is 4-6 hours and attendance to Legislative Day in Austin is optional.

Leadership development is not just about professional advancement; it's also about personal growth and fulfillment. Participants may discover new strengths, interests, and passions throught the course of the program. You will also gain a sense of purpose and satisfaction from making a positive impact as leaders in your organization and community.

Taking a leadership class can be a transformation experience that equips participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel as leaders in your careers and communities. 

Commitments

Attendance:

• Regular attendance is mandatory for all sessions. (Participants may miss four hours total during the 9-month class. any tardy or partial days will be included in the four-hour total.
  Attendance for orientation is mandatory
• Cell Phone Policy (Silencing Cell Phones)
  Participants are required to silence their cell phones during program activities and class sessions. 
• Volunteer Service Requirement:
  Each participant is required to contribute volunteer hours (20) to community initiatives or Chamber activities.
  After graduation, you will volunteer to serve on a committee or board (Chamber, City or non-profit).

Ambassadors Committee

These friendly folks are the Welcome Committee to new members. They attend ribbon cuttings and help the Chamber with many special events. There are a limited number of Ambassadors, so there is usually a waiting list. Ask us how you can become an Ambassador.

Business Development Committee

The Business Development Committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 8:30 a.m. Call for location.

This is the committee for you to have a voice in what kinds of programs the Chamber offers for small business. If you have an idea, the Business Development Committee can help make it happen!

Currently the committee is involved in:

• Organizing a series of business seminars designed to educate and motivate. Some are great for employers, some are great for employees, but there is something for everyone.
• Host the Sweet on Business luncheon in February annually
• Organize iChambershop by soliciting sponsors and gathering prizes
• Organize and participate in the Poker Run and Scavenger Hunt. These events focus on getting potential clients in your business!

Tourism Committee

The Tourism Committee meets the second Tuesday of every month at 8:30 a.m. Call for location.

This is the committee for you if you have a business that benefits from visitors and tourists or if you're just interested in promoting Weatherford as a tourism destination.

Currently the committee is involved in:

• Assisting with the Parker County Peach Festival. Weatherford's largest one-day event.
• Participate in "Adventures" where members do site-visits of tourism-related businesses to learn more about the tourism community.
• Advising the Chamber on what advertising venues and promotional opportunities we should pursue.
• Host the semi-annual "Art in Action" art show. Solicits participants and sponsors. This event takes place in the Spring and in the Fall.

Young Business Leaders

The Young Business Leaders meet once a month. For ages 20-40.

Individuals of this group must be employed by a Chamber member. Individuals will learn the ins and outs of business. This group will work their way to becoming leaders in our community. Luncheons will be held in odd months and mixers in even months.

There is pride in its people, progress and community. And Weatherford is True Texas. The city is unique and unlike any other with its culture, places and history. What makes Weatherford truly special are the people, families and the relationships.

The City of Weatherford exists to form the strongest community in Texas. It exists to create an environment that lets a person, family and company reach their full potential. When we are in a strong community there is trust. A strong community that works together is engaged and there is a sense of belonging, meaning and purpose.

Weatherford has a Council/Manager form of government with an elected mayor and four at-large council members serving staggered two-year terms. City officials strive to ensure a quality future through services and development. Even in gonvernment Weatherford exists to create the strongest community in Texas.
