Chamber Committees

Ambassadors

• Primary purpose is to serve as the public relations arm of the Chamber by welcoming new members and attending their ribbon cuttings and ground-breaking ceremonies.

Business Development

• Coordinates the Annual Weatherford Business Showcase, a tradeshow designed to encourage business-to-business networking and to showcase to the local residents all of the businesses, products and services that are available right here in the Weatherford area.
• Coordinates the Chamber’s Business Awards Programs that recognizes outstanding Chamber members. Awards include the James H. Doss Award, Business of the Year, Small Business Person of the Year, Best Marketing Campaign, Business Staff Person of the Year and Rookie Business of the Year.
• Organizes informational and educational seminars for small businesses, with topics such as Marketing, Customer Service, Employment Law and Employee Relations.

Education

• Coordinates the Junior Ambassador program
• Connects students to Chamber member businesses
• Assists with the Teacher of the Year Luncheon, the New Teacher Luncheon and the Industrial Appreciation Luncheon

Government Affairs

• When the State Legislature is in session, organizes Parker County Days in Austin, a trip to the State’s Capitol that keeps Chamber members informed of legislation that could impact the County or their businesses
• Reviews pending legislation and/or issues, meets when appropriate to discuss and recommends action to the Board of Directors.

Industrial Relations

• On a quarterly basis, visits Parker County Industrial/Manufacturing businesses. Tours are organized by the Weatherford/Parker County Economic Development Office
• Assists with the Industrial Appreciation Luncheon

Tourism

• Advises the Chamber staff on how to best promote Weatherford as a tourist destination
• Members volunteer for such activities as serving as step-on tour guides for tour groups or manning a booth at a Tourism Trade Show
• Administers the Tourism Awards, including awards for Arts and Entertainment, Best Special Event, and Tourist Attraction.
• Assists other organizations in town that have events that will bring tourists to Weatherford
