Weatherford Chamber of Commerce

For Immediate Release

Contact: Tammy Gazzola

Due to inclement weather and icy conditions Weatherford Christmas on the Square has been cancelled.  Organizers waited until the last possible time to make the decision but with icy road conditions safety had to be first and foremost.  Christmas on the Square has always been a rain or shine event, but Jack Frost had different plans for this weekend in North Texas.  Tammy Gazzola, Weatherford Chamber President, expressed her disappointment “Christmas on the Square is always a great day in Weatherford, I just hate that all the hard work and preparations of so many volunteers, vendors and businesses will not get to be enjoyed by our visitors but we realize that safety must come first!”  Gazzola stated that Christmas on the Square has grown each year and last year more than 15,000 gathered around the beautiful historic square to celebrate the day.
Due to the large size of Christmas on the Square and the many behind the scene logistics including vendor schedules, activities, volunteers & personnel the event will not be rescheduled for 2013.  Organizers worked hard to ensure the success of this year’s event though icy roads and frigid temperatures forced the undesired cancelation.
The Weatherford Chamber invites everyone to spend the weekend in Weatherford next Saturday and Sunday as there will be lots of fun family activities.  On Saturday, December 14th visitors can enjoy the Christmas Parade at 10:00 AM, Candlelight Tour of Homes from 1-7, Capernaum “Star of Bethlehem” from 5:30-9:00PM Friday thru Sunday and Theatre Off the Square “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”  at 8:00 PM on Saturday or 2:00 PM on Sunday.
