Weatherford ISD to dismiss at noon today due to inclement weather conditions

Weatherford ISD campuses will dismiss today at noon due to inclement weather and worsening road conditions. All after school activities and events are also cancelled for this afternoon and evening. Schedules at all campuses have been modified to ensure all students have an opportunity for lunch. (click headline for more information)

Elementary buses will begin picking up students for travel home at 11:30; middle school and high school pick up will begin at noon.  Our bus drivers have been instructed to use extreme caution, so please be aware that routes may take a little longer to complete.  If your child is planning to ride the bus this afternoon but not be able to get into your home because of this early release, please contact your child’s campus before 11:30.  Supervision will be provided at all campuses until all students have been picked up by parents.

The safety of our students and staff is always our first priority.  Earlier this morning, road conditions were clear with only drifting snow.  As the wind has diminished, an accumulation of snow has covered many of our residential roads.  Our decision earlier this morning was based on weather projections that indicated the snow would end before noon.  While we want to ensure that we are making decisions that minimize any negative impact on student learning and we also know that decisions to cancel or delay school may create significant issues for our families.

We hope that providing this information in advance of our early release today will assist you in making transportation arrangements.  Look for additional information about tomorrow’s school schedule later this evening.
