Re:  Greenwood Farm, Inc. International Horse Trials Sponsored by Charlie Gilchrist’s SouthWest Ford
Today’s Date:  April 2, 2014

Q:  What are Horse Trials?
A:  Horse Trials are a triathlon for horses consisting of dressage, a test of quality and training for each horse’s gaits; show jumping, a test of accuracy while jumping fences in an arena; and cross-country jumping, a test of bravery and endurance while galloping approximately two miles of countryside, negotiating solid obstacles and terrain.  Winners will have collected the least amount of penalty points.

Q:  Who participates in Horse Trials?
A:  The event is sponsored by Charlie Gilchrist’s SouthWest Ford. Riding divisions range from International to Beginner, and the sport is open to all ages of riders and breeds of horses.  It is supported by local vendors, advertisers, and volunteers.  Admission is free of charge.  Food and tack vendors will be on grounds.

Q:  When are the Horse Trials?
A:  Greenwood’s general schedule is below, and details will be posted on the website,

Friday, May 2:  9:00 AM to 5:00 PM:  Dressage
Saturday, May 3: 8:00 am – 3:45 pm:  Dressage
   10:30 am – 5:30 pm:  Show Jumping
9:30 am – 3:30 pm:  Cross Country Jumping
Sunday, May 4:  8:30 am – 2:30 pm:  Cross Country Jumping
   10:00 – 3:30 pm:  Show Jumping

Q:  Where is the competition located?
A:  Showgrounds are at 2200 Greenwood Rd., Weatherford, 76088, 7 miles west of the courthouse.

Q:  Why Horse Trials?
A:  This event is recognized internationally, nationally, and area-wide so that horses and riders can score  lifelong recognition  points in their designated divisions.  Mostly, competitors, their families, spectators, and volunteers come because it’s an  exhilarating but safe, fun, outdoors excursion in the country for young and old!
